"Splendor and majesty" are words that come to mind. It's hard not to marvel at the images of the interior of Notre Dame of Paris finally restored, five months before the long-awaited date of its reopening. Filmed by a drone belonging to the public corporation Rebuilding Notre-Dame de Paris, the cathedral reveals all its secrets, and the images are so beautiful they seem unreal and leave you breathless.
Immaculately white, Notre Dame looks as if it has stepped straight out of the heavenly kingdom. Cleaned stones, stained glass windows, and paintings in dazzling colors ... Nothing has been left unrestored.
This breathtaking restoration is the fruit of a long and painstaking effort by craftsmen and architects from all over France, and some from abroad, whose skills are second to none. After being severely damaged by fire in 2019, Notre-Dame is gradually being restored to its former glory.
In addition to the interior, the exterior features have also been restored, including the cross, the Viollet-le-Duc spire, and the rooster-shaped reliquary. Although some hoped that the spiritual and historic landmark would be reopened on time for the Olympic games held in Paris, it was not possible to finish that quickly. Instead, the iconic cathedral will reopen to the public on December 8, a symbolic date as it is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. It couldn't be more in keeping with the theme!
